Improving Access to the Laws of the Virgin Islands – Publication of the Interim Revised Laws of the Virgin Islands as at January 1, 2023

British Virgin Islands

The importance of maintaining an up-to-date Statute Book cannot be overstated. The Virgin Islands last had a comprehensive revision of the its Statute Book in 1991, more than three decades ago. The Virgin Islands embarked on a project to revise its laws through the Law Revision and Accessibility of Laws project in 2022, an initiative aimed at ensuring that the laws of the Virgin Islands are current and easily accessible. It has been a labour of love – challenging but thoroughly rewarding. It has been a pleasure to achieve the milestone of the completion of the Phase 1 with the publication of the Interim Revised Laws of the Virgin Islands as at January 1, 2023, a total of 93 laws.
